A gym is just a gym, right? I used to always think this way, until I joined The Gym.
I have always been fortunate to get the use of a gym with my work and never, since I was a teenager, paid for a gym membership. So when the time came to decide on where I wanted to workout after a career change, knowing I would be paying, I looked long and hard. I wanted a place that was convenient, not far from my office and with easy access. I wanted a place that had great equipment and a wide variety of options for a full body workout and I wanted a healthy environment with like minded people and a space free of the typical egotistical characters you deal with in this type of environment.
When I heard about my former colleagues opening a gym in Business Bay, I was curious, but the timing was not right for me. I needed a membership now and they were still 6 months away from opening. So I did decide to try a gym that was cost effective and had a good promotion going on and was told, had a good reputation. The Gym could not open soon enough. I will not go into my experience but just know that as soon as I could cancel my current membership… I did.
The opening of The Gym was exciting for me because of course I was happy to see my colleagues meet this major milestone in their life. Although a bit above my budget, I was proud to be one of their “founding members” and what I joined was a state of the art, beautifully designed Gym. They have everything you need and everything is clean and well maintained. Their service model is very basic yet, very much to the needs of everyone and very personalized. The staff are warm and friendly and, quickly, this Gym becomes “your”gym.
What I fell in love with, is a place of friendship, relaxation, self improvement and motivation. The staff know you by name, members, know you by name. The Gym quickly becomes your second “home”, and that is really the design behind the design. I see members, come to just get work done, I see members bring food for Iftar, I see members bringing gifts for each other from vacation. This is true Arabic hospitality in a fitness environment. Truly amazing.
Myself personally, in the environment I have excelled. I am more fit and have been able to achieve more in my fitness life then I have in all my years. The training environment is amazing. This is not an environment of quantity over quality but quality over quantity. The trainers take the time to ensure you reach your goals as long as YOU remain committed. They do not rush off to their next session regardless of your progress. I have always felt that my goal was shared with my trainer. I really do not feel I would have reached the level I have without his support, guidance and motivation and I am forever grateful.
Although, I will say that The Gym is NOT a place you always need a trainer, but they are always around to help. Paid or unpaid, if you have questions or just need a “spot” they do so willingly. The Muscle bar is fantastic, with a variety of healthy dishes.
Overall, what more can I add. The Gym is a place I have reached personal goals, Improved my physical and mental health, made friends, built relationships, made business contacts, dared to do things I may not have even thought about trying, feel genuinely happy. Where else can you say you you get all this?..I am definitely a fan. Thank you to The Gym, for making my life, better.
